14 June 2021 - Coccidiosis, caused by Eimeria species parasites, is a severe poultry disease. The intestinal tissue damage caused by coccidia results in lower feed intake, interference with digestion and nutrient absorption, dehydration, and blood loss. Chickens suffering from coccidiosis quickly become less productive and, if they survive, poor performance continues for the rest of their lives. Coccidiosis has also been recognised as an economically significant disease in chickens.
